It All Feels Like Too Much

“Hey Sky, how’s it going?” Jamie asked while taking a seat beside his friend.

“It’s going very well,” they sarcastically answered.

“What’s really going on?”

“I guess I’m just very stressed out.”

“Stressed over what?”

“You know, this year ending and having to get ready for college and scholarships.” Skylar took a breath, “It just feels like too much. Like, finals end and then I’m looking into what college I want and what career I want to follow and all these things that just hits me at once.”

“I understand that, it feels like too much. Especially with all the finals.”

Testing Season Is Close

     “Why do you look so tired?” Skylar asked.
    “Yeah, looks like you haven’t slept in days,” Amber added.

     “Wow, thanks. You guys are so nice. You really know how to flatter a guy.”

     “No seriously, what’s going on?” Amber asked.

     “I’ve just been really stressed. With all the classes I signed up for that require more tests and projects, I guess I didn’t realize how stressed I would be.” Jamie reached into his backpack to show them his schedule. “I’m not only staying up late with projects, but I’m also having a hard time falling asleep because I can’t relax and like stop overthinking everything.”

Time For a Picnic

     Autumn and Skylar walked through the park.  

     “Do you know when Jamie’s coming?” Skylar asked Autumn as they made their way onto a hill. 

     “I don’t really know…he told me he’d be here soon though.” 

     “That boy can never be on time, can he?” 

     “Nope, I don’t think he can. I’ve known him since like third grade and his habits have not changed whatsoever.” 

     “I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up being late to his own party or something.”
